The 18th Century History site is accepting submissions. If you would like to share your knowledge of this fascinating era of history, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Editor. Students and new authors are encouraged to submit. 

 

What we accept:
Book Reviews
Articles about any topic about the 18th century (See requirements below)
Website Reviews

Requirements:

Submitted articles must be about the 18th-century era. (1679 - 1840)
Submissions must be from 500 to 1500 words in length. (If they are longer, we can make it a series of articles)
Try to avoid the passive voice
No fictional history, however, we will consider the analysis of historical fiction as it relates to the field of history.
Revisionism is encouraged
Citation of Sources is required in either Chicago or MLA style manual format.
These sources can be books, manuscripts, or Websites.
Book Reviews must contain bibliographic information and ISBN numbers, preferably at the end of the article.

Please note, that the 18th-century History website is an educational website. Because of this, we have students of all ages who use the website. Therefore, any links to Adult oriented websites are not allowed.

(Examples of forbidden: Dating websites, websites that sell firearms and ammunition, modern politics, online gambling/Casino websites, and Adult entertainment websites.)

Also, note that the Editor does review all article submissions including the links that are in the articles.

How to Submit your Article

(We originally had two methods to submit articles for consideration but due to the influx of spam posts, and other unwanted posts, we have discontinued the ability of guest authors to submit articles directly to the website using the online form.  Guest authors who have used this method before, please use the method outlined below. We apologize for the inconvenience.)

This is the only method by which you can submit your article.  Your articles will be reviewed by the editor before they become live on the website and then the editor will email you with the link to your article, provided it falls within the above guidelines.

Method of Article Submission

Email submissions to the Editor.
All submissions must be in plain text within the body of the message.
Include the following with your submission:

  1. Title of Article (REQUIRED)
  2. The article itself (REQUIRED)
  3. Citation Information (REQUIRED)
  4. How you want your byline to appear (REQUIRED)
  5. Your Website URL (s) (OPTIONAL)
  6. Your Email Address (REQUIRED) Note This is only so that the Editor can contact you, we will not sell or give it to anyone.
  7. Short Biography of yourself (OPTIONAL)
  8. NO ATTACHMENTS

If you are unsure if the material you wish to submit is inappropriate for this site, please send a query email to the Editor for review.
