The Loyalists of America and Their Times by Egerton Ryerson discusses the American Revolution from the Loyalist viewpoint. In his preface to the work he states that "I have thought that the other side of the story should be written; or, in other words, the true history of the relations, disputes, and contests between Great Britain and her American colonies and the United States of America."  This volume covers the founding of the colonies, beginning at Jamestown in 1620 to to the beginning of 1776. Thus making this work an invaluable source for discovering the development of the United States and the reasons why the 13 colonies broke away from the mother country, Britain.
